I think that's the best option. You certainly would not leave it as it is. Would look tacky as stated above....

I've looked at it number of times in the past few months and am still not convinced and will probably end up regretting it
Get off the bandwagon, and put down the handbook.

Id like to see it proply on a full view of car...i think it would look half decent painted dark grey and fitted with an extra area painted on the bumper matching and masked both sides to widen look and tie in better...mask each side forming an angled squareish at 80°instead of 90°on the side and upper edges...failing that id even get sum alli curved strip and add another rib and paint on each outer side...im fancying this myself now actualy...
