Hi all, MOT due next week and I know my rear shocks have had it, wondered if anyone had some in decent nick before I buy new ones or maybe someone was breaking a GTi, mine is a 99X. Based in Telford if that helps with collection, Thanks....

2x Sachs rear dampers at Euro Car Parts is less than £64. Not worth buying 2nd hand at that price.

Not worth buying second hand suspension parts unless you can get the vehicle history printed on gold plated paper.
The odd knock here and there can seriously compromise the performance of the part. What might look like a perfectly good part could have a catalogue of damage and abuse attached to it.

As Edward said, ECP is cheap enough, might even find some at local motor factors.

OK thanks, good advice, just a bit tight for cash so thought I'd ask, MOT's in Jan are bad news generally! I'm probably gonna have to do a new back box and discs/pads all round, it's booked in on Friday, maybe I'll catch a break.......

The SACHS are £70.10 now on eurocarparts with discount (only 25% instead now as the other deal expired). Or £58.60 from carparts4less with discount (eurocarparts without the shop fronts) although having said that they have a poor reputation for contacting if you have a problem.

SACHS are a well respected suspension make, so not the usual cheaply made ones you often see advertised on ebay for half the price.

Hello mate, I've literally put coilovers on mine yesterday, rear shocks are fine, only changed as a front shock needed replacing.

You can have them if you cover postage, I can have them sent on a next day for Tuesday Smile

Second hand I know but even if they just do you through the MOT, better than nothing Wink

Let us know mate.
