Not worth getting a disk lathe as new vented disks are less than £10 each. Racers know how to take care of their brakes and I can fix mildly imprinting ones without a lathe in less than 10 mins and without taking the disks off of the car.

Remember; the next time you stop from really, really high speed park on the handbrake not using the foot pedal. Rear brakes don't get anywhere near as hot as the fronts so imprinting the rears is almost unheard of.

Interestingly when you are braking hard enough to completely lock the wheels (ABS prevents this) then you aren't putting heat into the brakes. The heat is being generated between the tyre and road.

Morris 1000, Austin 1100, Escort Mk2, Fiat Mirafiori, Alfa 33, Alfa GT Junior, Alfasud, Alfetta GTV (2x), Alfa 164 3.0 V6, Alfa 164 2.0, Alfa 75 V6, Alfa 156 2.4 (diesel remapped 200bhp), Alfa 147 GTA (3.6 295bhp), Alfa 159 (diesel remapped 245bhp 300ft.lbs @ 2500rpm)
Why isn't my daughter an Alfaholic?

I think my probably has been loads of motorway braking so a bit light and this doesnt flex the system enough. Im gentle on my brakes as well so that does help. Plus of course lack of love.

Lathe....way too much money as well. Nice to do , but no one would buy the service as you say...cheaper to get new discs.
