My headunit sometimes turns itself off randomly and starts up again as if its the first time youv used it (have to put settings in again etc). Its been happening since i bought it ages ago but only every now and then. Last night it did it twice on the drive home. Most of the time the speakers/sub make a thud noise when it happens but sometimes they dont.
any ideas?

Have you checked the power delivery to the back of the unit? (No loose cables etc)

Yeah its either the main12volt live or the main earth coming loose occasionaly...just do a rewire following everything as it is but make sure all connections are as good as u can make them..

.if u still have the fault u must consider that wires have two ends and the far end might not be connected right???see if fault returns after rewire then get a test lite or voltmeter and check out the wires properly...

i forgot to mention at the same time, when my sub kicks in and music is turned up, all my lights used to dim (they dont now as they are almost all LED's) but my headunit still dims and my clock display (mental block of what its called)

my old stereo did that, and i couldnt figure out why, because it worked fine in my old car, and the plugs were all brand new, so i took it halfrauds, and got them to fit me one, because i wanted my moneys worth, and the same thing happened.

he changed one of the wires around in the back of the Clip thats in the car, and its worked ever since,

i asked what he'd done, and he said, the standard stereo in them, the wires are in different places, so thats why any other head unit doesnt work.

now i dont know if this is true with all of them, or just a few, because iv had a few 206's and the one iv got atm, is the only one that iv had the problem, just makes sure all the colours from the stereo side match the ones on the back of the ISO plug, Smile

sounds like a battery issue as if its not got enough power to run the car and a sound system, maybe a new uprated battery would stop that?? when did u last have a battery change

sorry, only just saw this, for some reasons i dont get notifications when someone comments on my threads any more. the battery was in there when i bought the car, value halfords battery. Last week i bought a exide premium battery after a battery test at halfords when they said it was runing at 50% power and was unserviceable. and iv changed quite a few bulbs to LED's so they use less power as well. since this the headunit hasnt turned off and lights havent dimmed. (now iv said that its going to turn off next time im in the car)
