My clutch is on its way out so im on the hunt for a new one.
Could someone please tell me the dimensions of clutch I require to fit a 54 plate 1.4 8v TU3JP
I've been looking for some that say it 180mm, is that correct?

Also.. How hard is it for an amateur to change the clutch?
Ive been quoted prices between £250-£350 for parts and fitting and wandered if I could save myself some £££'s by doing it myself, I have a good understanding of mechanics but never changed a clutch.

Thank you

Pretty simple job to do a clutch on a TU, can be done in less than a morning/afternoon if you know what your doing so for a first time person with a decent manual or set of instructions should take no more than a day, bit I always struggle with is lifting the gearbox back into place, simple if you've got a second pair of hands to help with that. Apart from that can be done by one person in very little time.

Shut it u stupid little f**k, what's the point in posting in all my treads being such a c***? Least I can afford a gti180, and to get the cam belt done!

So apparently everyone knows my financial situation? If I wanted a 180 I would have bought a 180 simples Smile

2003 - 406 Coupé 2.2 HDi SE - Hyperion Blue
2000 - 206 2L HDi D-Turbo ECO - Cherry Red
1999 - 306 GTi-6 - Blue (haven't worked out if it's Nile or China yet)

180mm is right. 18 centre spline teeth.
If you go to a motor factors they will sort the right one out for the car if you are unsure.

Book time is 3.5 hours for a clutch and as Lee said an extra pair of hands (or trolley jack) is useful.

You'll need to get an clutch alignment tool. Get the centre plate slightly out when you bolt the pressure plate to the flywheel and you'll be cursing at it for a week wondering why the box won't go back in.

Just had mine done last week on my 1.4 8v, got it done for £190 which was parts and labour. Was going to attempt it myself but due to weather conditions I thought i'd just get the garage to do it. Good job i did cause they struggled like hell to get the gearbox off! most of the bolts were seized :/

Thanks for all your replies, will see how I get on, if I take the plunge and change it myself with some friends and beer tokens..
