Hello,

Adjusted low beam OK according to www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oz5ynBlx7k , headlights level was set to "–" (not to 0 as Haynes suggests). That adjuster near ignition lock has 3 2 1 – 0 positions, 0 being the lowest.

But after the accident headlight units are still not fitted in an aligned fashion (looking at the front of the car in daylight it looks "cross-eyed")
So I ended up screwing the vertical beam adjuster of left headlight 100% down, and right headlight - 95% up, to finally bring then to beam alignment.

Problem was that switching to high beam afterwards, the left high beam was still shining way up high (and there's no screw thread left to adjust it more down). Is that headlight unit warped? As there are no separate manual adjusters for the high beam.

And would this high beam issue fail MOT?

PS: I thought that low beam should never go above horizon line, so the adjuster roller near ignition lock should have – -1 -2 -3 instead Smile

Full beam won't matter, just low beam. It would be better to replace the headlights.

Are you certain that the bulb is seated correctly. If you are getting the correct level at dip then the high beam should also be correct and not pointing into the sky. A bulb incorrectly seated can give very strange beam patterns.

No time wasted, long time due MOT passed today (yes they ignored high beam), headlights replaced after the accident back in the day; I'll check the physical aim of high bulb, thanks for answers!
