Hi everyone just a quick question on the 2.0 140 gti engine does the little guide pulley on the auxillary belt come off just by the bolt in the middle of it if so is it left or right hand thread?

Someone will be along and answer soon but if you don't have a haynes manual I suggest that you get one. Not the solution to everything but a very good guide for stuff like this and you don't have to wait for replies..

The pulley or tensioner?
If it's the tensioner you remove it by taking off the whole tensioner.

Tensioner:
First take the aux belt off by grabbing the centre bolt of the pulley (with a socket etc) and pushing back, then undo backplate retaining bolts.
Idler/deflector:
Just undo the centre retaing bolt which is normal thread.

The big bolt on the tensioner is a 16mm.
