hi I have a xsi which was hit by a lorry whilst i was at work , no major damage - front wing just needs repairing. But I had money from insurance for what the car was worth so I bought a GTI 140 same colour. But my xsi has done 94 k miles but has really been looked after, headgasket has recently been changed etc.
GTI has done 54k with no work .
So the GTI will need work soon.
I dont know which one I want to keep now ! XSIs are rare and I love that car, the only thing is its done double the miles of the GTI, but has been looked after more.
What would you do ???

You obviously want the GTI otherwise you wouldn't of bought it in the first place. Plus they're more fun to drive.
Does it have service history?

It came with MOT certificates thats it , with very little work done to it.
The XSI has had alot done , I think I want the XSI and it was a wrong decision getting the GTI,
My XSI has a really good exhaust system, black wheels etc and it will be a lot to do it all again on the GTI. The GTI is quicker but not a major difference at all.
XSI has a 4-2-1 manifold, the headgasket, cambelt and gearbox were recently changed.
Plus the GTI has to have work done so that it can play the CD player that the XSI could play - the XSI could play any - GTI wont

The GTi needs one cable moving for it to run any cd player, took me all of 10 minutes to do it on mine. The GTi is a more solid engine, very rare the headgasket goes on it, and usually if it does it's down to neglect more than anything. Same story with the gearbox provided they are looked after and not misused there fine.
