Right, the airbox that sits in the bumper of the 180... it has a pump sitting on top bracketed to the inner wing. It has a feed to the top of the air box and the other end goes... no idea, maifold I assume. I know I could ask dealer tomorrow, but I am being imaptient, and trying to plan ahead.
I can post a pic later, but someone must know. Is it emmsions control, cold start?? Can it be removed??

Its the secondary air pump. Its designed to pull warm air into the engine from the initial start up. I read its because the exhaust levels are close to the tollerence for tests and this aids it. To be honest they are a pain. Mine is intermittent and brings the dreaded 'anti-polution' fault up if the fuel is under 1/4 tank. Im waiting for another member to be free so i can dissale it and e rid of the issue!

Well it can easily be fed directly to the box, bypassing the pump. It is the pump I need to move because of my new air box mapping...
I can't think that it need the pump... cant really think that it will the warm feed either being a track car???

Surely people replacing the airbox with a cone jobbie such as K&N etc must do without???

Right - latest info is that this only serves to warm the cat up on cold start to improve emissions. Nothing more. So removing it will have no adverse effects short of maybe running a little rich at times, but at least it will be burnt in the exhaust and not "recycled" pouring gasses back into the induction.
At a push, you would prematurely burn your cat out, but when you are tracking it etc, you are already through the looking glass on that score...

I removed them 2 year ago. There is an option in BSI settings via PeugeotPlanet2000. On customer options sub category disable aux pump. And CEL light never come up.
