My car made a terrible judder this morning when I pulled away in 1st gear.
It seems to disappear once the engine has warmed up.
Is this the clutch on the way out?

Well it was ok this morning.
I am sure that the clutch is on its way out soon though as the car has done nearly 60K and it has never been replaced.
I don't know how long a clutch last but its got to be due soon surely!

I wouldn't worry about it. The clutch on our 207CC is always like this from cold. The rest of the time it's perfect and it's only done 29k miles.

60K is nothing to clutch, still got loads of meat left when i change the clutch around 75K

My brothers car has done 129k and has never had the clutch replaced. Depends how you drive it.

My Astra (just been scrapped) was 148k with original clutch and had only just had the original battery replaced. Had not been serviced for 6 years! Sometimes cars have few issues in these areas.

I had a similar thing a little while back, turned out to be the clutch slipping which meant an expensive trip to the garage for a new clutch. Does yours slip in any other gear, or just the judder in first?

It juddered when I pulled away.
But if I am careful with the clutch it does'not do it!

That's what mine started out like, then over a few weeks it got worse to the point where it'd slip out of gear as I was driving along.. Which was quite annoying

A clutch can be anything between 40k and 200k depending on your driving style (aggressive or sympathetic) and whether you do mainly motorway or short town driving in traffic.

It all depends how high the clutch bite on the pedal is, if its quite near the top, I would think about changing the clutch. If its not, I'd keep an eye on the judder to make sure it doesnt get worse.
