hello all, new to the forum. I put depoist down on a 206 quiksilver 1.6 hdi yesterday and travelling 60 miles to possibably fetch it tomorrow, after i get a phone call in few hours. Got a quick question, the car has hardly any fuel in it and when starting beeped i believe 3 times (i understand this might be ecu warning me of an error???) i thought it was just warning me of low fuel, as i didnt see a warning message on the centre console or dshboard displays. Car is being mot'd today...and having a radiator fan switch replaced as fan stays on after ignition is turned off (from what they said constantly)...all help with these 2 points would be greatly appreciated as dont wanna buy a car with serious problems, minor ones i cud possible haggle down the price to fund me sorting them out. If the is anything i should be looking out for when buy a hdi 110 please let me know

DON'T do it, the 1.6 HDI engine is total crap 
If you want a 206 with HDI power get the 2.0 HDI.
The fan on all the time means its trying to do a regen & it will say ANTI POLLUTION FAULT on the MFD.
Get your deposit money back & walk away.
I bet the previous owner got shot of it once they realised that a very large repair bill is looming.

thanks for quick reply mate...can you explain abit more as to why its so crap?? i know of filter and plan to replace with a piece of exhaust pipe. its not reading anti pollution fault atm??? car is coming with 3 months warranty so might include fix of problem like...so the beeping is defo a fault or cud it just be saying low fuel??

If you believe that there is a fault don't buy it. You lose your rights as you knew the faults were already there.
If you simply change your mind about buying it, then the trader doesn't have to refund the deposit. Ask for it in writing from the trader that there are no faults with the vehicle. If they won't put it in writing that the car is fault free, then walk away.
Even if a fault does occur after that, then the trader must put it right, as long as it's not through misuse or wear and tear. If within 6 months of purchase, you do not need to prove the fault exists.
If you're buying on credit eg card or finance company, then you have even greater fall back as the credit company is liable for the faults.
Have a read of this forum for what rights you have as a buyer and the rights of the seller.

lol...im just clueless as thought they were more refined than and reliable than the older 2.0 lump??  was impressed with drive but dont wanna waste my cash on a soon to be dead car like my current saxo vts selling for £450 on the driveway

not buying on credit or anything, and thanks for advice on getting it in writing...his due to ring whether mot has been completed and that in an hour or 2, plan was to ask him to pop abit of fuel in and see if beeping goes...got a feeling im gonna loose out on £100 here anyone else know if it defo has a fault or just fuel warning???

If you were to search on here the 2.0 HDi lump is mostly described as bulletproof on this site

The 2.0L has something the 1.6 doesn't have, proven reliability, they have shown time and time again that with just simple maintenance and regular servicing they will just eat up the miles without any problem.
Do not buy the 1.6, even after replacing the filter with just a pipe it's still a minefield to get the car to run remotely right.

thanks for the advice...considering dumping the £100 and looking for either a 2.0 hdi or another car. just after info on problems but cant seem to find much on the forum, is the a sticky im missing?/

See if you can get the deposit back, if not it's nothing like the money you will throw away fixing the faults with it. Another issue with them is the clutch which takes 11 hours workshop book time to change, and the dual mass flywheel.
If you can find one, look for the 2.0l HDi Eco model, same engine as all the others but only costs £30 a year to tax.

I had a GTIHDI 1.6, and I had that problem with my fan and it didn't regen properly. nightmare

Three beeps is the fuel warning by the way as mine came on this morning.
Don't replace the filter with a straight through pipe, i've heard stories that it causes problems with the dual mass flywheel. Just have it removed and its all good.
If you know anyone with a snap on computer they can reset the regen for you
