After doing a little digging I believe that my heater resistor has failed as I only have the use of setting 4 on the fan.

Where's the best place to buy another resistor and is it a fairly easy fix?

This is the first job in a long string on jobs that need doing on a car I've just got!

Get another fan. The resistor isn't just some little farty thing you see on circuit boards.

Plus finding one with the exact resistance values with the correct steps you give you the different speeds would be difficult at best.

The resistor pack is available as a spare part for PSA stuff without climate control fitted.
Last time I checked the price new from Peugeot / Citroen they where pretty cheap.

The resistor has melted, along with probably the earth on your connector
