My wife was driving the car 206 1.4 HDI and as she approached the traffic lights she lost acceleration. She pulled over and the engine was running but when she pressed the accelerator nothing happened, the engine would not rev. She stopped and started the car a minute or two later and it got her home. Now I had a service done last week and they said they had changed the fuel filter. I read a previous thread and I am wondering if this may have had an effect??

Sorry I have not replied for so long but problem went away and never happened again until just recently. Thought it might have been trapped air in fuel line that had worked its way out.
It has cut out several times and the engine management light stays on. Just got it back from the garage and they said it reported a fault with the TPS (throttle positioning sensor). They then told me that they have cleared the fault code and I should drive it over the weekend to see if it still happens. If so they will replace the TPS. However they said I could bring it in Monday and they will replace the fuel filter if I want to see if that is the cause. Im not sure I should because I might be paying for something that does not need replacing. They did not fill me with confidence. The TPS will cost 100.00 pounds plus VAT plus labour.

Hi davrym, Had a similar problem a while ago, get your injectors checked out, mine went past the cutting out stage, went into limp mode, and engine was making a right noise, got it to garage and cost me £400 1 injector and three rockers had to be changed, said i was lucky it hadn't done more damage, my mileage was 60,000.
Don't wanna frighten ye, but ask him to check injectors.
OH mine had TPS fault.

My engine was normal just before it went, was investigating the TPS fault at the time, just saying after it was repaired the TPS fault went. Think i have seen on here somewhere that the TPS very rarely go.
