hi guys,
had my 206 1.6 XSI lowered yesterday (apex springs & adjusted torsion bar by 1 notch), which looks waaaaaay better & does handle better BUT the ride is SUPER BOUNCY!
Does anybody know why?
Could it be the standard shocks or are the apex springs to soft? (I'm new to the whole modifying thing)
Any help would be much appreciated!

Could be anything, but who did the torsion bar? As the notch/click method ruins the back axles.

Oh bugger!
Not entirely sure what he did. But said something about taking the torsion bar out & turning it?? But I'll find out, its also knocking at the back as well but only since it was adjusted. Not sure if its pure coincidence or hes buggered something up. But the bouncing is horrific, almost uncontrollable at speed!
What method should be used for lowering the back end?

the knocking at the back it likely to be the trailing arm bearings. He probably hit the bar with big hammer to get it and and knackered the bearing in doing so

I reckon your right as he actually said 'the torsion bar was really stubborn, so I had to use the big hammer!'

jack up the rear with the handbrake off and check to see if that arm is wobbling, if it is you should sort it asap before it scores the shaft it sits on

The bouncy ride will be because the standard shocks have the incorrect damping rate for the lowering springs

thanks everybody for your help & advice. My car is finally sorted, the current set-up is the perfect balance between handling & ride comfort. The excessive bouncing problem was my rear shock absorbers! Changed them both for standard (oil filled) OE quality ones & done!!

made no difference on my car for 4 years with lowering springs and std shocks
the back should not knock at all, i did mine and the arm came off with the bar a few times that was done a few months ago with no knocking squeeking and i havent done it before
i would take it back and see what he says, the front being bouncy i would put down to maybe springs needing wareing in, only time i have had this is when i had cheap coilovers on the front just bounced as though the spring was not compressing much at all

to be honest, I think that I will eventually get gas shocks all round, once the bank balance looks a little better!
