The only decent brace is one that fitted to welded mounts on either turrer. Otherwise there's too much flex in the mouting plates.

...an opportune moment to have a laugh at the after-market rear strut brace. Tell me no-one has fitted one?

Ivw got a top mount strut its looks ace but as the guys say for show really but look nice

What about the lower braces that have popped up on ebay they say they reduce all kinds of flex

On a GTi subframe they do nothing. On a TU type subframe they might. i think they fitted one to the HDi GTi.

also had one but wouldnt fit on a 1.4hdi (engine too high) and yea you need to drill through to the suspension turret compartment

Nothing to do with suspension the bit you cut its for the cabin air source
