i have a 206cc 2.0 16v and it has just started doing this,

you drive along with you foot just touching the trottle and it will rev but if you put your foot any further down the car will start juddering and loose power, this will happen in every gear and also when you are sat still i try to rev and if i just tap the trottle it will climb slowly but if i put my foot any further down it ill rev then drop to about 1500 - 2000 and stay there with my foot to the floor and start reving between 1500 and 2000

i first thought there was not enough air getting in but it still does it with the air box off

the car has brought up some messages in the past on the centre screen

first was somthing to do with the cat and the other was anti pollen fault

i do hope some one will be able to help me with this
thanks

Needs scanning for fault codes.

ANTIPOLLUTION FAULT mean's the engine ecu has detected a problem, you need to read the fault codes stored in the memory.

Fault codes will point you in the direction of the problem.

Here's a guess. It's the coil pack. Will run fine at idle but the coil pack is too weak to spark through the denser air at anything more than idle...as I said just a guess.

when i held the trottle wide open and it was reving around the 2000 mark i put my hand over part of the tube that goes to the air box and the revs did pick up a little which is making me think more of a air leak somewhere

£102 for a coil pack from Euro Car Parts. Can get 25% discount on that though.
