Whats the point of masking up then mate?cant you just use a good plastic/bumper cleaner to get rid of over polishing and to bring your trims and plastics up to scratch?
Autoglym do a great plastic trim cleaner..comes as a green gooey liquid and brings a shine to all plastics inside and out...from the full dash looking like new to the full bumpers or just the mirrors all looking new its great stuff...NOTE -its been a good while since i bought this plastic cleaner/restorer but im sure they must still sell it in its green gooey form.

masked-up to avoid damaging the trim from a rotary polisher. No matter how good a trim restorer is, once it's damaged it's more work to restore it (if at all). Unlike filed fingernails, the trim won't grow back
Better to be safe than sorry

Me too use stuff for the full dash and it is quite good. the only problem is the smell that sticks in your hands
in argentina we also use "auto polish" to remove scratches on the bodywork
