At 40 MPH my car is doing about 1750 revs. I was wondering what other peoples cars do. I have a 1.4 lx
And is this high, low or average.
Thanks
Garry

i'd drop a cog to 4th tbh, high gear cruising saves fuel but not when the car is straining like a loon (1.4 will be doing so)

onhes right. drop down to 4th at least when doing 40, these 206's dont like to struggle aha. it is a little bit of a silly question though, the higher the gear, the lower the revs will be, it cant feel right doing 40 in 5th aswell aha? makes the car feel.... sluggish.

I did it earlier and it was 1700 so that's about right.
Rough guidance for gears which I use:
1st - up to 10 mph
2nd - up to 20 mph
3rd - up to 30 mph
4th - up to 45 mph
5th - anything above 50 mph

Many of the people on here will change down through the gears in sequence when approaching a bend, turn, hazard or coming to a stop. There is no need if you know which gear is appropriate for your speed and you use the block changing method correctly. Less wear on the components which in turn means they will last longer.
Granted, it means reading the road well ahead of you, but it comes with practice and makes a smoother journey.
