Right I have fitted coilovers before on my 206s i have had but I always take the helper springs out one to go lower and two so it is easy to compress the damper. But I keep wrecking the coilovers by doing this so going to do it right.
How do people fit them with helper springs in?

Strip them down, wind the spring seats all the way down. Slot the helper spring in, the splitter seat and then the normal spring, coilover top mount bush and just drop the top mount on with the rubber rush and bolt it up. Piece of p**s.

You don't even have to use spring compressors. If you've got decent coilovers the springs will be short enough to be able to do it without anything. Just slot and bolt.

Try pushing down on them... if they're cheap ass coilovers you'll push down with one hand and put the bolt on the thread with the other.

Yea i can do that. its when the coilover is together and you put the top mount to the car and then the coilover is to long to easy put it in the bottom.

To get them in the car it's ideally a 2 man job so you can push the wishbone down with a large pry bar and that way the hub drops down and you position it into place.

passenger side will and p**s all the gearbox oil out so get them fitted and fill the oil back up. Drivers side will stay in without a problem.

I got told that once it falls out you have to take gear box off to put them back in?

Helper springs just stop the spring becoming unseated when jacking up, once the car is lowered it won't make a difference and certainly doesn't damage the unit
As long as you make sure it's positioned correctly when the jack is let down you will be fine
If the shaft comes out just pop it back in and top it up with oil
