Yeah I mean electrical short. My gti180 and my friend gti180 last year really slow down. Original PeugeotPlanet 2000 service computer didnt find any error. Dyno results on my stock car 164 hp. My friends filter exhaust and remappad car is shown 175 hp. After changing both cars VVT selenoid cars complete fixed.My car shown 174hp same dyno after VVT change. My friends car shown 187 hp again same as when remapped.

How much are replacement VVT solenoids?
And I take it, it is best to get them direct from
Peugeot dealerships?

Not too bad I guess.
I better get my ecu re-read first.
Although I think I'll just replace it either way.
My friends clio 172 is much faster off the line than my 180. And a few months ago when I was on silverstone's track, all the clios were going past me easily on the straights Sad

Ah, thanks mate. Worth changing it then I think.

So to clean the vvt do you just literally spray it in carb cleaner and wipe? Or would a toothbrush come in handy to give it a good scrub?

The spray should take any crap off of it on its own really.

Does the vvt make an audible click and if removed can it be seen/heard/felt to be doing something ?

have 12v at plug after start up and removed solenoid but does not seem to be doing much .

is the vvt controlled directly by the ecu ? and is it reliant on cam sensor info ?

any info would be appreciated .

Cleaned mine today as was going up hill and suddenly lost power. Still drove fine but very slow. Turned ignition off and on and it was back to normal power. I was low on fuel though which I have read somewhere that that can cause loss of power as well. Never happened again but car did feel a little sluggish at times. So thought I would clean it anyway. Initial testing I think it has made an improvement on pick up speed and through the revs. Thanks for this thread as it helped.
