Ok, so I've got the bulbs for the heater illumination and had a quick crack at changing them this morning before work. The car is a 2000 1.4LX.

Centre console off, no problem. Heater control unit unscrewed, no problem.

Then stuck.....

The cables attached to the heater controls are incredibly restrictive so hardly allow any room at all and there's no way I can get the unit out from behind the dash it seems. I can see what looks like 3 wedges which look like the back of the old bulbs by the cables to the dials but they won't twist from behind, I can't seem to grip them with the pliers and as hard as I try they just won't budge from the back. Won't twist at all.

Am I supposed to seperate the black front panel of the heater controls from the white rear part to get to the bulbs? I had a brief look at it but due to lack of time I couldn't work out how the 2 pieces would come apart.

I'm sure others have encountered the same headache so what's the way around it?

I ain't nuts, I'm condiments, I've been promoted

Pretty sure I remember this. Think its just a b***h to be fair. I think unplugging the heater control bit from the car was my option as in the plugs from the sockets to the back of the unit. Then I just took it inside and twist the bulbs. Have you tried twisting both ways? might be going the wrong way without insulting your incompetence. Perseverance is the key to this there isnt really a nack.

I know what you mean about trying twisting both ways but they don't seem to want to budge any way from the rear. I read somewhere that the knobs come off the front so in theory the unit should come apart making the job easier. The question is how? I'll have to find a day when there's nothing else to do and just play around with it til I find the right way. If the French can put it together I'm sure I can find a way to take it apart
