so,strangely a search didnt reveal any topics about these things. Those fluids/additives that claim to "clean" excess c**p from the cat. i raise this now as after an exhaust replacement it still appears i have a very sporadic idle issue that appears to be due to airflow/cat blockage.
The interwebz has come up with numerous massive claims and huge nay-sayers so just wondered if anyone on here has actually used them, or knows of other ways to effectively clean the cat out a bit? it does get the occasional hi-rev run but doesnt seem to do much.

Try 'SeaFoam Engine Treatment'. It looks pretty good. Search a few videos on youtube to see how it works but I think there's a thread on here that talks about it. It clears out any carbon build up in your engine and has had a lot of great reviews

I was at a meet last week and some guys from Terraclean were there.
I didn't take much notice of them myself, but I know they were charging upwards of £108 and to recoup that at an improved fuel economy of 4 -15% would take ages for me, hence not really much interest on my part.
Here's the leaflet I picked up though. Don't know if it will answer any of your questions.
I think Dave spoke to them so he might have a bit more of a clue, but he rarely comes on here now. I can let him know to pop on and add comments if you want.

thanks,for me its more so about the engine struggling to push through the crap due to so many short trips. it still could possibly be a bad lambda i guess but just "feels" like cat lol. spose whacking a decat pipe in would tell BUT i dont think my ear-drums could take that again. will have a look-see at this seafoam

The other day I had the engine management light come on in the 180. So, I filled the car up with Esso Supreme a bottle of cataclean and a shot of Redex. A couple of days of driving and bam engine management light went out.
Ive rang up about Terraclean and its priced at anywhere between £90-£110 to have done on anything thats 2000cc or less. Seems to be nothing but good reviews floating around from people how have had it done since seeing it done on Wheeler Dealers.

My engine light came on recently when I ran out of fuel and after about roughly 250 miles its still on so if seafoam doesn't solve it for me I'll try cataclean. With seafoam you have to basically do a full service afterwards so I'm due a service soon and when it happens I'll video me doing the seafoam on my 1.4HDI and do a review at the end of every week for a while

one thing to bare in mind UZ is that thats often the case though,it can come and go. mine may only come on for few miles then might not been seen for few weeks,other times its on for a day or two. looked into seafoam but not so fond of using ot. after a lot more research appears the cat products are a plecbo unless its purely blocked. if the cars beyond 6 years or so its probably worn and cant be "rejuvinated" :/
