Hi Guys
Thanks for that - I hadnt noticed that (The Problems) section.

After reading the problem pages I think I have sorted the speedo - it was simply a matter of pulling off the speedo needle (GENTLY!!) and re-seating it. I had to do it a couple of times to get it right but it seems to have done the trick - same with the temp gauge needle.

I also noticed somewhere posts re the coolant and when I looked a mine it looks like something from the bottom of a river bed - brown mud. I dont think its been replaced ever.

Any pointers on how to drain the coolant and refill?

I have posted this message in the problems section as well to be sure its in the right section.

I wrote some better instruction for a coolant change for a GTi...use the search function and you will find it.
2001 GTi 138, Bilstein Sprint dampers, H&R springs, 21mm Peugeot Sport torsion bars, 22mm rear ARB, Peugeot Sport Group A wishbones, 283mm discs, Goodridge stainless hoses, Maniflow 304 grade 4-2-1 2.5" manifold and system, 200 cell cat, Richard Longman head, 45mm Jenvey throttle bodies, 9.5mm TB spacers, 90mm air horns, Jenvey throttle linkage, Jenvey fuel rail, Aeromotive and Goodridge fuel fittings and braided hose, ITG sausage filter, Radtec custom radiator, Piper Ultimate Road cams, Piper vernier pulleys, Omex 600 ECU. Saxo electric PAS pump, Vibra Technics engine mounts. Samco coolant hoses, TTV steel flywheel, 4.76 final drive ratio, 307 CC 180 ratios. 2019 BMW 530i. 2017 Mercedes C300 convertible.

You need to do a coolant flush before you change the coolant,in the next few days,I will make a How to on that,but for now,what car model you got so that we know how to help.

well it's same as mine,you need to do the flush with the car engine is very cold,take off the expan. tank cap off,then look on the radiator on the passenger side,down,you will find a hose,unclip it,and take it out,make sure you got a container down that hose,cuz you don't need to spell any anti-freez on the ground,but the hose back for min.,refill with water,then take the hose off,so all the dirst goes out.

then put everything back to order,and refill with coolant.and don't forget to do the bleeding for coolant.

Cheers mate - that seems pretty straight forward.

If I remember rightly doing the bleeding - isnt it simply run the engine for a while once the new coolant has been put in, with the expansion tank cap off to let the trapped air escape and top up if necessary???

You can get most of the air out without starting the engine.

well you can do the bleeding by working on 2 spots,the first one in the bleeding point on the heater matrix hoses,you will see it clearly,unscrew it,all air will be out,and close it when the coolant run without air,and next spot is under the coolant temp. sensor,you do the same,and then start the engine,and then close the cap,and you will be fine.
