Just a quick question.

I am taking the pug on a booze cruise just over to calais - potter around over there and drive back. From me its a fair way (shropshire).

anyhu! Is it possible to fit a proper wheel in the spare wheel carrier? It has a useless space saver thing (which needs replacing anyway as the tyre is massively cracked.

Tah for any help!

You may need to drop the cage front fixings down to the lower set of holes on the body, takes all of 10 seconds to do.

As above and also, there's 2 different bolt lengths for the securing bolt.

You will need the long one for a proper wheel if it left the factory with a space-saver.

Thanks for the extra tips - at the same time as ordering the new wheel I will get the new securing bolt and lower the cage to the next holes.

You lot have solved my day long "where can I put another spare" wonderings whilst I was meant to be teaching a class of 22 kids! Razz

I dontt want two spares - I asked if I could change the crappy space saver for one that I can trust if it goes on a motorway.

Eddie206 - that thought had crossed my mind - but as previously mentioned I was asking about this as I'm doing a little booze cruise to france. This will include over night gear, camping gear and hopefully stocking up the wine reserves when out there - mmy family do it every year as a little holiday... Something to look forward to! I want to take the 206 for fun!

We do also have a scenic - obvious choice is to not take the ageing 206 as the scenic is safer, far newer and much bigger. But the 206 should make it more fun Very Happy

I must admit i thought you were gonna carry two like...its the way it reads i guess...

If your short on space and heavy on cash why not get a roof box and really go for it...party on.

In all fairness I towed a Corsa in my 1.1 at 40 odd with a space saver on the back and it didn't explode.

Oh I know space savers are fine - mine is in need of replacing anyway as the tyre is perished and won't hold air. I thought while I was buying a new wheel it may aswell be a full size spare Smile

Tried a booze cruise last year in a fully loaded clio with roof box - never again! Just wasn't fun to drive - it made the allready leany clio a bit worse with cross winds Smile

Ps I would love to be heavy on cash Smile I'd have a gti if I was.

Don't go out buying an alloy though, fair enough if you have one spare but a singular steel wheel costs penuts even with a good tyre.
