Hi All,
Have a nice little 206 GTI, has a strange problem...
When putting into gear, if I push the gear stick forwards too hard the engine stalls? (When sat at lights, not when moving!)
Also it clunks when changing gear - im suspecting an engine or gearbox mount has gone, but would that make it stall if I pushed the gear stick too far???

The gearboxes are clunky on these 206s!
Is it only on first gear? what about pulling off from second or third (if you can :)).
Does sound like something is unwell. How long have you had the car? perhaps the previous owner forced the car into first gear one too many times whilst still moving. 206's dont like to go into first until you have almost stopped rolling.

Sounds like the clutch is not disengaging properly.

To clarify, if i move it onto gear all is well, if I then push forwards harder without doing anything else, the engine stalls..

You'll probably find that with loose engine mounts the engine rocks so much with you levering the gearshift that a wire is earthing/ shorting to ground
