Hi, newbie here so treat me gently...
We have a 2002, silver,2.0l 206cc and the driver seat cover around the side air bag has pulled out from behind the airbag cover and has frayed so it looks a mess. I have managed to get it back into position but within a week it comes away again and each time looks more frayed. I think the cover is possibly beyond repair and as its around an airbag I didn't want to mess with it too much.
My questions are, can we get another cover or complete seat back, if so any precautions to follow with the airbag and could we just fit another second hand back complete with airbag without having to reset anything?
I would like to give a trim code for this but cannot locate it, any ideas where it is?
Any advise or guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks in adavance

you can replace the seat, but you need to be careful when you deal with it,so take the battery off for 12 or 24 hours before you start working on it,then disconnect the seat, and replace it,everything will be fine, and no light will go on

Get a good epoxy resin and glue all the threads together then glue it all in place giving plenty of time to go off properly...im not talking a little super glue type container..you need a decent 1or 2.5 litre can of evostick or a good epoxy resin like upholsterers or joiners would use..not the upvc stuff thats not suitable..the stuff you need is light brown ish colour and looks a bit like golden syrup mixed with honey and can have small strands in it.

Thank you for your replies, I will see if I can find a seat back. if not (or instead) eddie206 your idea seems sound. It would would be easier if I can get behind the air bag cover on the side of the seat from where the material has come out from behind. Is this just a cosmetic cover that comes off with a bit of a yank?

No!
You can remove the airbag without removing the entire fabric back from the seat. Easiest option is to buy a new interior or seat. The part that has frayed is part of a tight seal around the airbag and even gluing it will not fix it imo.
Use it as a reason to get a leather interior for the 206cc.

It seems my best bet is to try and get a complete back rest ass with airbag. I doubt if there is any covers around for a car of this age. Leather would be good but she complained enough about the leather skirt creaking-so I had to take it off!!! Lol
Any idea where I will find the trim code? at least with that it gives me a chance to source what I need rather than say it's a black and grey check.

Macca1411 thank you for taking the time and trouble to provide so much information. I will be walking round the car all weekend looking important with my clip board making sure it's still to original spec. Thanks again

Well my problem still exists. I have tried breakers yards, main dealer-(no longer made), local Rolls Royce/Jaguar dealer for a trimmer, Chips Away and the like all to no avail. Does anyone know a trimmer or a specialist that could do something with this seat so we can sell the car. I know there is the leather option but work and cost involved is a expensive and time consuming option.
thanks to Macca1411 the trim info is
trim is ANDORRA BRAID CLOTH + "MK" EFKA
HZR- - ASTRAKHAN GREY for both front and rear
Any help would be appreciated.

Well good news at last. I have found someone who will do the job, not too far away from me in Milton Keynes and if I take the seat back only, they will have it done in less than a day. Once it is done (booked 1st October) I will post how we got on and a recommendation to the company. I must also thank yorkielassy for her PM's.
