Hello folks,

Took my wifes 206 out for a drive and found the gear selector to have a lot of slog and play on it. Gear selection is fine but what I did notice is that when the car has been driven for a while and fully warmed up its a struggle to change down from 5th to the point where I couldn't get it out. 5th gear selects ok but seems to stick when trying to come out of it. When in 5th I noticed if you slightly push the stick to the left its seems to jump into position which makes it easier to change down but not perfect. Has anyone had this problem.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

John

I think the theme of the month is gear problems! Shocked

So many threads with this kind of issue lately!

Have you checked the gear linkage? The go from the gearbox to middle back of the engine.

Also may help to know the car model age mileage etc etc.

2005 1.4 16v Sport

Check out my 206 here!

Does this only happen in 5th? Could be the wrong gear oil.

Yes mate it is only when you come out of 5th to change into another gear. It goes into 5th no problem. This may sound daft but the gear stick seems to go to far to the right when putting it into 5th

Check the linkages. See if they look genuine, or if they have been changed. Might be a wrong part fitted.
