Hi there

Please can someone help! I'm after some advice.

Yesterday morning I took my 206cc to a peugot main dealer as its close to where I live as my cigarette lighter had stopped working and I wasnt sure if I had damaged it due to using it fo rlots of chargers.

A technician tested the fuses etc and done whatever testing and said I need a full new cigarete lighter uot at the cost of £45 inc vat, which I thought was ok. Car was booked in for Tuesday due to the fact they had to order it.

Yesterday evening I went to put the window down and it wouldnt work. I then tried the roof and that wouldnt go down either? Usually if there is a reason it wont go down the little alarm goes off, but there was nothing.

I have today taken it back to the main dealer and after 2 hours they have now told me that the ECU? has failed at that its a complete coincidence and its nothing to do with what they done to it. I find this very hard to believe as its been working perfectly until they got their hands on my car.

They have now quoted me £78.50 to do a diagnostic check on my car to check if it is that and then £750+ vat if it is the ECU.

Cany anyone help with any other reason what it could be??

Thank you Smile

Don't let them charge you that mush for a lighter for a start! By the part and do it yourself. its never £45 worth of work. I doubt the ecu has suddenly failed as well, but they should do a diagnostic to check, but again I wouldn't pay that price.

Hi Steve

I dont think its co-incidental either as they have said it is, it was working perfect until they done what they did when testing the fuses. My friend is fitting the lighter for me as hes bought one and fitting is only costng me £20. What do you suggest about the roof etc? at the moment I cant put the windows down Sad

I would start by checking the fuses yourself. Ill see if the lighter fuse controls the other things as well. What year is the car, im guessing 2003 onwards.

Well that's your problem then! Anything electrical has a fuse to protect burnout. I would go and check that fuse, check if its blown or not been pushed back in fully. Is your car on hand. I'll be on here till 2pm.

Also fuse 22, which is right above fuse 12 is the cigarette lighter fuse. I would check they've put it back in the right place.
