Hiya

As a 1.1 owner, I feel its now time to sell the limp legged under powered beasty. 0-60 in about a mile, and in order to get anywhere without upsetting the nissan micras up my behind, lots of revs and accelerator pedal rammed to the floor.

All of this results in a vehicle with poor mpg for a 1.1 engine with no guts at all. It is my opinion (and correct me if this is wrong) that a vehicle with a 1.4 or even a 1.6, would fetch the same mpg with less effort required from the engine.

To gain speed in my little 1.1, i really need to hammer it, but in a larger vehicle, acquiring the same final speed would require less fuel and resulting in greater mph

What do you guys think? I would love to hear from other 1.1 owners, and how they intend to fob theirs off to the next lucky owner.

They are pretty turd! I like the car, it looks nice and is comfortable but the MPG of them is horrendous considering their age and engine size. Mine gets a maximum of 29MPG when I'm driving normally, changing at 2500 to 3000 revs every time etc, it sits at silly revs at anything past 60 and is just SLOW!

Saving for a new car now, fancying a Lupo GTi, MX5 or a Ford Fiesta Zetec S.

Edit - The insurance is also hardly different between the 1.4 and the 1.1!

It's awful, most of my mates are driving about getting about 50, granted they're in newer cars but still!

Yea 29 mpg is not good, I know I have said it before on here, but I get 40 to 43 mpg out of my 1.4 and I don't think it's too bad on performance either, so if you want my opinion go up to a 1.4 at least and the insurance is low. Wait for it ... mine cost me £145 per year fully comp with protected NCD! but then I am 51 and been driving for 34 years Laughing
