So winter is coming, and I need a new heater/blower in my car, I have an '02 multiplexed with a digital climate control/air con.

I bought one last winter, and it was the wrong one, all I can remember is that it needed a separate resistor...and it was the wrong type of blower for my car.

So Instead of wasting more money i thought I'd ask here to see if anyone knows.

Thanks Smile

Just looked at my old one i removed last year, it has has 2 electric connectors to it.
One is a 2 pin connector and the other is a 5 pin connector.

The resistor is built into it, hence 2 connectors.

When I changed mine i think there were only 2 types for sale, like you mention. I just thoroughly checked the pics on the ebay adverts to make sure there were 2 connectors.

I expect yours has a big metal crescent shaped resistor with spikes on it, under the fan. If the fan works then you could just change the resistor, but when i checked the resistors were a more expensive option

Is it an easy job to replace? could a novice do it? or would it need to be garaged?

Disconect the battery, then prepare to be a contortionist, can also be a bit tight when trying to twist
anticlockwise to free it.

Spray a little WD40 where it the motor locks into the housing and wait a few mins if it is tight, and it should unlock easily

Cheers, so I might as well get it out and check the part number to be 100% sure I'm buying the right part Smile

Will it mess anything up if I drive about without it in for a week or so?

No, just keep the DAC unit switched off.
