When I bought my 206 there was only ever one standard key with her. I would like to get a spare cut but would a normal shop key cutter do one? Also as I only got a basic key....could my car actually have remote central locking, because I've not got that kind of key I wouldn't know?
Probably 2 stupid questions.....but I am only a mere woman driver after all lol!

You'll need an immobi loser chip as well. A normal key will open the doors, but won't start it.

You'll need to buy a remote fob and blank blade from somewhere like ebay. As Steve said, you will need a brand new immo chip. You then need to connect the car to PP2000 and pair the remote and the chip to the car. To do this you need the 4 digit security number usually found on a card in the glovebox, although why people leave them there I'll never understand.
There are 4 different remote circuit boards for multiplexed, so you need to make sure you get the right one.
I think total cost for a new fully functional key from the dealer is about £120

Is there no way to tell if its got remote central locking before possibly paying out for a key that may not work anyway....?
This is the one key that came with the car

PM me your VIN and I'll look on servicebox to see if it came with plip key or not. I thought that all 206s came with the standard key (that I posted) and at least 1 remote.
If your car is a 53 plate, then the remote fob should look like this

It looks as though someone lost the original key and got a basic key coded and made by a place like timpsons.

Looks like my car SHOULD have remote central locking but all keys have been lost and I just have a replacement standard key. Im not bothered about remote locking so I will just get another one cut.....do I just look on ebay for a 206 blank blade and then take it to Timpsons or other keycutting place?

You could get an extra key cut but it would only open the doors. It won't start the car mind. As above you would need an extra imob chip.
