hey guys need some advice i have a 1.4 with 17"devil alloys.the problem is when i bought the car it needed 2 new drive shafts, i had 1 new an 1second hand.the second hand one now seems to be rattling an knocking but no wobble when i drive.i have 17`s with 10mm spacers will this cause my drive shafts to fail also thinking of getting new rims without spacers,so what wheels would i be better with i don`t know much about the rims an spacers as they came of a gti id bought for parts thanks in advance guys.

The fact the wheels are on spacers shouldnt make a difference to the shaft.

As for new rims, best bet it to get peugeot ones (17 inch vortex or 16 inch nimrods)

Well If I were you,I would fit 15" or 16" tops,as the 1.4 engine can't handle the heavy 17" as it's a weak engine,and yes,that is the reason why your drive shafts keep going faulty.

thanks for the reply`s. i was told that saxo`s an 206`s cant handle 17`s as it makes the drive shafts fail ect.i`m not sure yet but was thinking of replacing my engine with gti or 1.6 engine and running gear.would the drive shafts on a 1.4 be ok with 16`s

ok well looks like ill be looking for some 16`s then. another quick thing is my rear axel dont seem to hold any wheight.two people in the back an the arches are on the wheels does this mean i need to change it

Well, I've had 17's on for years, and not had to replace the drive shafts yet!

If you are lowered AND expecting two adults to get in the back, then you are lowered too much and should consider getting it raised again. Personally, mine's staying lowered and right now only the kids go in the back!

cheers mate. no my car ain`t lowered just standard ride height even with an 11 an 12 year old in the back it drops quite a bit almost as tho the axel dont hold wheight if that makes sense

I'm driving with 17's and haven't had a problem over the 6,000 miles I've done with them on. There's not much between a 14 or a 16 weight wise.

I think this depends how you drive I had 17"s with 205/40/17 tyres. Lowered on Gaz Coilovers. All was fine. You own a 1.4 I doubt you expect it to go like a race car so performance no doubt isnt a massive issue.

Well that depends on the road he is driving as a daily,but you driving 6,000 miles without any problem,does not mean your car is problem free,it's just a matter of time for the inevitable ;).

About having issue on the rear side,It's time for new Shock Absorbers I believe they are in a bad shape,and can be risky to drive on high speed,as the car won't be stable from the rear end,and the brake distance will be so much longer with the wheel bouncing up and down when braking hard.

due to the fact even kids make the a**e end drop an adults the arches touch the wheels my first thought was the shocks are nakered but then i was told the shoks wont make it drop like that under wheight so it means the torsion bars are gone so i dont no this is the first pug ive owned an only car with a torsion set up so ive no idea whats wrong with it
