Yesterday, I found the battery dead, it was a battery I fitted 5 months ago. I replaced the battery with a new ACDelco battery. The technician informed me that the generator is working fine after he replaced the battery and measured the voltage.

Today in the morning, I found this new battery dead too! The battery has a condition indicator which is still saying "good".

What is the problem please? Could a new battery die in less than 24 hours?

I have seen quite a bit of this with after market radios. Quite a few go into "sleep mode" when you press the off button but still draw anything up to 0.5 amps. Holding the off button for 4 second switches them off and removes the drain. I have seen others where if you don't switch the radio off before turning the car off the radio shuts down but continues to draw current.

It could just be that you lots of short journeys and, over time, the battery goes flat.

Or, as above, you have a wiring fault.

I had the same problem earlier this year. Mine turned out to be the light in the boot not switching off when the boot lid was closed. We removed the bulb and it's been alright ever since.

I still can't find where the drain is, but the battery seems ok and working fine. The technician advised me to take of the battery cable before parking the car at night to avoid draining the battery again! Until I find the reason.

Taking the battery cable off at the night solved the issue temporary until I found the fault.

I had a problem with the fuel pump relay which seemed to be the reason for battery drain at night. I replaced the relay, and everything is now fine. The technician also devised me to take off the aftermarket car alarm or disable it as those alarms tend to leak and cause problems by time.
