Fitting a multiplex engine to an older car

Let's talk about the topic on thought-basis. What would be the problems I would run into if I would for example fit a EW10J4S (GTI180/RC engine) to a 306.

The engine loom on a GTI180 looks quite traditional, even if the rest of the car is plexed. But does the ecu talk with the engine sensors etc. via the multiplex channel or is it plain old electrics. If I would acquire a unlocked ecu for one and wire up the wires needed to the wiring of the 306 chassis (ignition, rev counter, alternator and so on..) would the engine fire up when the key is turned?

Not saying it's an easy PnP task but this is just something I've thinking for a while now.

Easy route would be using an aftermarket ecu but if let's forget it for now.

The gas pedal could be acquired from a 306 HDI to make it control the electric throttle valve on the EW10J4S.

I've seen some multiplex engines fitted to older cars but they have all the electrics transported from the donor car and all of them have been a little or more frankenstein than others.

It would be nice and neat to use the 206 engine wiring and ecu etc. to make it look like a stock build.

Is this possible?

use whole wiring mate like what i did when conversion multiplex to preplex, atleast engine wiring, dashboard, and interior, door and rear wiring such as lrear light can be remade, but beware gti180 have limp mode, when some wiring not perfect, economy mode activated, if u know how to hack the ecu its ok :), or disable function that not use

The engine is also part of the ESP system so to avoid any hassle I'd just take the engine and fit it with a standalone ECU.

Well the RC/GTI180 I was working didn't have ABS/ESP working at all and the car had full performance all the time - didn't go to limp mode.

And if you didn't read the first post, I would not be comfortable having a 206 wiring system on a 1994 306 Very Happy

And to make it clear, I'm not making a conversion like this, yet.. Just looking through the options I have when I do and also gathering bits of information beforehand Smile

I'm pretty sure that the ESP can be deactivated from the engine ecu. But is it possible to unlock (deactivate immobiliser) these multiplex ecus?
