My 206 recently had a full service and everything that needed done was sorted, it ran fine for an entire day but noticed that when car had been running for 20 minutes or so the revs drop down when idling at lights etc. No warning lights, no engine management problems but feels like it is going to conk out. Garage suggest a new coil pack but that was replaced in February. It shudders in low gear and I am not keen to drive it in case it does. Diagnostics show nothing but as a result it is sitting in the drive and only rarely being driven, the thought of breaking down in winter on country roads is not appealing. I am looking for a low tech answer that I can understand and pass on. It feels sluggish (like when the coil pack went) and sounds awful - like the exhaust is blowing. I am assured this is not the case and apparently everyone knows better than me. Damn car has cost me a fortune in the last year. Help, please....

Did they change the spark plugs when they did the service?

More info about the car would be useful, year? engine? mileage? modifications to the engine?
Check for any loose electrical connections. Sensors, coilpack, battery terminals, earth strap on gearbox, ECU. Might be worth unplugging each connector and giving it a clean with electrical cleaner just to make sure they have a good contact.
Clean the ICV
Check the alternator output
Check the make of spark plug fitted.
All cheap and relatively easy to do

It's a 54 plate and some sort of sports model (sorry, not a car enthusiast) No modifications that I am aware of, only had it just under 2 years.
I will pass this info to someone more able and let you know.
Thanks for the info.
