165/40's were ermmm fun at just shy of a ton Laughing

They were brilliant in the wet being so thin, but bring the speed up past 70 and you start laying a wall

Speaking of which i have a set of 165/40/16's for sale? Wink

Jesus bump from the past!

Unfortunately this car is no more - met mr. scrap man last summer.

Although my 2.0 HDI now looks identical minus the smoothed boot Wink

FK coilovers... well I just wound them fully down so there was no compression anyway so I don't think I'm in a position to fully criticize the ride. However I found the tolerance on the actual strut shocking. Yes it was actually larger than the hub carrier slot. I ended up having to shave it down (not the best idea but there was no other option).

This is what you get when you buy cheap. I have gone through kersh's old janspeed ones and the build quality was far far better. Maybe it was a quality control issue I'm not sure. the actual overall diameter difference between each strut was around 0.5mm or something crazy.

But apart from that, budget and give you the height you want. Don't expect anything amazing. If I were to go back to this sort of stuff I would have got something a little bit better to ensure they fitted properly because boy that was a ballache.

Oh and they rusted quite badly.. I only had them on for around 6 - 8 months.

Looking lovely mate, how low were you on just springs and campers? Looks about 60 or so mm?

Cheers bud - way more than that would say it was around 130mm at the very lowest (+ this is what the manufacturer said it would be fully wound down)

My old 1.4 was on 60mm springs and you could still get your arm in the gap.

That's what I meant, pre coilovers stage. With just springs and shocks. Looked good at that height anywho! I'm going coilovers at some point, it's gonna be a daily though so need to find the perfect height!

Ah right I wasn't sure what campers were haha.

Yes 60mm is good, I could get over 90% of speedbumps without scraping no problem. Could also get people in the back which is always nice!

Thanks - (well it was Wink )

I'm not 100% sure as I adjusted it quite a lot of times and never measured. I would take an estimated guess at over 100mm, most likely 110mm.
