im trying to fix a water leak on my 06 206
i think i have identified where the water is leaking from bu im unable to find out the best way to actually get to the pipe in question and the haynes manual i just bought for £20 doesnt even show the part?
Help with identification and some help on how to actually get to the clips etc on the pipe as they seem to all be in inaccessible positions
this is taken of the righ hand side of the engine. the pipe highlighted seems to be the main car heating water etc. it connects to a 2 way thingy just on the bulkhead heading into the passenger compartment
on this first image the arrow #1 is where the leak seems to be originating. i can see easily enough around the back on the pipe to see if its the pipe itself thats leaking or if its the thing its attached to.
the little #2 on the pipe underneath is another question as this is the thing causing the issues accessing the pipe i need to get to but there doesnt seem to be any way to actually remove this?
 this is the thing its connected to. can anyone advise what this is and if im ok to unscrew and remove it in order to get access to the pipe. can anyone tell me what the normal process is to access this pipe for replacement if anyone ahs done it

You can remove the plastic housing using a 10mm socket and short extension.... just remember there will be an "O" ring style gasket behind it.... these stretch if pulled and cant be re-used if damaged. This should give you access to the leaking pipe or highlight what is actually leaking.

ok great ill take that off now and see if i can get to the other parts.
When im ordering those hoses what should i be asking for? there doesnt seem to be any table breakouts etc available that i can find which identify them?

I am guessing that you are going to need the heater hose from bulkhead to thermostat housing but I cant confirm without the engine code or model of your car

so that bits off nwo and to all intents the pipe seems to be fine. the water was leaking directly from the side of the pipe which seems odd that there is no damage to it.
however on closer inspection the plastic piece and the gasket you metioned above does seem to be damaged
it seems almots like it might not have been fitted properly initially as it looks quite deformed straight away.
if it helps at all its a 2006 1.4

Can you get a picture of the head where this was located... lets see if there is a trace where the gasket mates to the head....
It looks like there is damage to the plastic where the gasket sits.... new casing or good breakers yard find

just had a closer look at that part and it looked like there was a piece of plastic missing just above where that gasket was deformed. had a closer look and sure enough a little piece of plastic was jammed in the outlet .
called the local parts place and they dont stock any peugeot stuff so need to wait for them to open tomorrow am to go fetch the new part.
I also broke the breather part on the top of the rocker cover when removing the air filter so need get one of those too.
Thanks very much for your help today. should be able to put it back together tomorrow morning in a fairly short space of time now i know whats wrong and how to do it.
Last question that would be helpful to know the answer too. on the breather pipe there are these little yellow tabs which i thought would need to be released in order to remove the pipes from where they were fitted. however after i tried to pry the piece out with a screwdriver it just seems to stretch out a basically destroy that yellow plastic.
am i not supposed to remove these clips? are they fit once and then replace type clips perhaps?

These clips are normally pressed. All the connectors around the vaccum pieps and air intake are just finger press to open and they click to lock back.

well you need a brand new thermostat housing,I prefer to use the OEM one in this case,or high quality brand,as this hole kit come as one piece,you will buy the plastic housing,with brand new Temp. sensor fitted,and also thermostat,and it's better to have a new rubber seal,as yours seems to be in a bad shape.
after looking at your pics,you sure that your engine is 1.4??as this housing is the same as 1.6 16V.

gf thinks it is a 1.6 but wasnt sure. checking against the number plate it shows as a 1.4??
so not sure to be totally honest. whats the telltale sign on the engine for the difference?
