Yes I have searched, through the hundreds of top mount topics but nothing really answers what I am looking for Wink

1 - Do you need any special tools to replace the bearing in the upper spring seat? I brought a kit that includes the bearing and top mount rubber, but no idea how the bearing is installed (or old one removed) just by looking at it.

2 - Is there a way to take the suspension strut off without separating the wheel hub from the lower ball joint? Last time I had to separate this it took nearly 3 hours with the limited tools and stuff we have lying around...

Thanks ! Smile

U can get the strut off without undoing lower ball joint but it can be a ball ache I personally undo ball joint, Once the spring is compressed and shock is out of car an allen or torx key and iirc 19mm (not 100% on size lol) swan neck spanner will do the trick, pently of wd40 on the nut 1st they can be bugger, I usually try get it loosend/moving while car is still on ground, helped me loads that way after removing countless 206's ssuspension lol

I got the strut out without popping the ball joint. I cut a set of cheapo eBay spring compressors down to fit up in the strut tower and compressed the springs in situ.

And just to add to that, no special tools are needed for the bearing, it's pretty self explanatory once it's in front of you. Just have a look at the orientation of the old components s you take everything apart. And an impact wrench with a deep socket works wonders on the top nut if you can get hold of one.
