Hi all,

Can someone please tell me what this is and what it should do?

It is quite hot to touch and is generating a fair bit of heat.

I wasn't sure if this was normal or not.

I noticed the other day that that area was warm/hot in my 206. Had no idea what it was. Its to the left of the drivers footwell and behind heating controls/stereo area

Drivers footwell area. Its the backing/outer surround to the heater matrix which has your cars hot coolant running through it

Its normal so dont worry

Apologies - location of this is at the bottom left in the drivers side footwell in a GTi 180.

It has been getting hotter than normal these past few days.

At the same time I have noticed the coolant temperature gauge has been fluctuating between 90 and 100 degrees.

Normally this gauge would never move from the middle.

Would this have anything to do with it?

The cooling fan is working and kicking in as once the tempreture hits 100 degrees.

At first I thought I had an issue with replacing the fan resistance relay or cooling fan relay, but all is in working order.

This is the first time I've experienced this, any additional info or advice would be much appreciated.

Further to my previous post, I have also just noticed that hot air is blowing out of the centre dash vents.

Does it still blow hot when your heater controls are set to blow cold, and does the air still come through the dash vents when it's set to blow onto the screen or feet?

Hi macca,

No, cold air blows out when set to cold whilst the air con is on and also through screen or feet when adjusted on the dash panel.

I've noticed a couple of small dried up chunks of what looks like coolant sitting on the front of the coolant box (under the bonnet).

Noticed these brown coloured dried up spots on the coolant reservoir - should I be concerned?

Clean them off and see if they appear again? Could just be spilt coolant thats run down from when the cap was removed last.
