Hi guys
I have a 1.4 06 peugeot 206.
The power steering liquid level has come to an all time low. Could you advise me what type of power steering liquid I need and where would be the best place to get it from?
Thanks

Why would you assume a leak? It's due a service, I just assumed it needed filling.

Check the hoses coming from the reservoir for any liquid, or see if you can find any staining

Can't see any leakage, the power steering suddenly stopped working when I was parking it. So I looked at the levels and it was near gone.

Sounds like you have a leak somewhere then

To the garage I go then.
So what type of liquid can I use, so I can at least get it moving.

This morning I checked the car, it seems that there was a major leak on the drive when I was parking it. Why would it suddenly leak? Shall I call the rac? Or is there something I can check? It looks like it's coming from the front of the car

You can see if there are any hoses loose from the top of the engine, failing that look underneath and see if you can trace where the fluid has come from, it might just be a hose loose. It depends on how confident you feel repairing / replacing parts and how quickly you need the car, A garage might take a few days to fix it.

It sounds like a seal has perished within the rack. Have a look under the front, you will have a bar (tie rod) with a rubber boot near the centre of the car, if it's leaking from the boot your seal has gone. I've never tried to fix this fault before though. It's normally a new steering rack. You might be lucky and either the feed or return pipes might have a split in them. The splits can be very hard to see sometimes. Clean everything first and recheck before you take it to a garage. You don't want them ripping you off with labour charges if it's only a pipe
