messy problem .... changed wishbones recently and must have disturbed driveshaft oil seals as today after parking up could smell gearbox oil sure enough leaking on to exhaust.
bought new oil jacked up car and could see oil seal was right out of gearbox housing..
managed to push it back in square checked it looked and felt good. topped oil up drove car around the front of the house.. feeling pleased with myself when i looked under the car at the growing puddle of new gearbox oil peeing out of the shaft seal AAARRGH!! bumped the car uo on the kerb and managed to push the seal back in again?? why has it started to pop out ?? is the seal knackered?? shafts only 9 months old or so ??

once you "break" the seal it will need changing, no point it keep pushing it back in as it would of been damaged and it will just keep coming out

Yep, common error for the inexperienced when changing wishbones. Once the wishbone is no longer locating the hub then the hub can move far enough to let the drive shaft pop out of the gearbox.

Most people just force the driveshaft back in by pushing on the hub (the oil flowing out of the gearbox makes them panic) when they should be far more careful than that.

Also dont forget the gearbox should be drained at the bung, and refilled with 1.75 litres of 75/80W
