Hi all I have a 206 lx 1.1 2002. There is no permanent live to the radio. I have tested the connections and it seems both the switched and permanent live are only activated by the ignition. I have tssted all the connections in the fuse box under the steering wheel and the is no live connection without a fuse in. No blown fuses either, the haynes manual and hand book fuse box diagrams are nothing like the layout in the engine or under steering fuse box. Totally at a loss now, every search I do says to switch the ignition and permanent live cables any help would be great thanks.

I had that problem with my 1.1 lx 2002. All I did was charged the battery up fully.
Give that a try, otherwise I don't know, sorry

Ok thanks for the reply, will have to try that. Think the in laws got a battery charger, to add have tried to bridge a connection next to the fuse box to make a permanent live, and also run a cable from the hazards but both end up with the battery light being on constantly. So if no luck with charging the battery up I'll have run a new cable from the battery unsure on cable type and inline fuse etc though.

I'm not an expert on this sort of thing, but I do know there are a few people on here that can help.
If you needed help wiring speakers or a sub, I can easily help, anything else, not a clue aha

I have the same problem, on a 2001 206, which I've just bought.
I started a thread by mistake on the peugeot206cc.co.uk forum, I'll paste in below what I wrote over there, as it may help both of us:
"Hi, I think the problem may be a blown fuse, because the odometer isn't lit up (and I don't think it has been since I bought the car).
I tested the eight lower connectors on the car stereo power loom, they are as follows:
1 xxxxx 2 Grey 5 White 7 Red
2 Brown 4 Purple 6 xxxxx 8 Green/yellow
With ignition OFF:
1:xxx 3: 11.5v 5: 0v 7: 0v
2: 11.5v 4: 0v 6xxx 8: Earth
With ignition ON:
1:xxx 3: 0.9v 5: 0v 7: 12.3v
2: 4.5v 4: 11.6v 6xxx 8: Earth"
Here are some photos I've taken of the stereo wiring connectors:
I then found two loose wires on the left of the centre console:
I plugged them into two connectors which I found inside where the stereo goes, on the left - they were the only two empty sockets I could find anywhere near the two cables:
I also found a small fan that was loose under the front of the central console, and can't work out where it should go:
I have a Haynes manual, but couldn't see anything about this small fan. I presume it moves air to the two vents either side of the gear lever.

Don't go plugging loose connectors in when you don't know where they go. Those look like the glovebox light connectors (white-lamp unit, brown-switch). The looms were made so that if optional extras were required, then the car didn't have to be ripped to bits to fit them.
Are you looking at the correct fusebox diagram?
OP will require this one
Multiplex fuse list
Mosis (aka 'thread hijacker) could be that one or
pre-plex fuse list
That 'fan' actually looks like a motor. Possibly something to do with the interior heating system. As you say, could control the flaps to divert the air to different places.

Hi macca, sorry for hijacking the thread (I thought my pictures might help the OP and others, as well as myself). The car drives fine, so I think they must be the glovebox light and switch, they are certainly going into the side of it, I will have a look at it in a minute. The fan is definitely a fan, not a motor, it has blades and spins only when the car's main fan is working. It was underneath the central console just in front of the ashtray (i.e. nearer to the front of the car than the ashtray). I am just about to have a look at it again, it looks like it clips into place somewhere inside - I presume the front part of the lower console (where the gear stick is) isn't meant to actually come out of the car, without removing the vertical part of the console with the car stereo hole in it? Because I can't work out how to remove the wretched thing otherwise.
I will have a look at those fuse lists, thanks very much for your help.

I've just gone and had a good check of the fuses, I have the pre-plex fuse list, using my Haynes manual, I tested F2 (5A) Instrument cluster, it had no effect (as far as I could see in the evening light at 8pm) on the instrument panel, when I turned the headlights off, with or without it in. I tested all the fuses that I took out, with my multimeter, and they all read 0.09 on the 200ohms scale setting, so all were good. I tested F8 (10A) Coolant temp. unit, instrument panel, hazard warning, clock, multi/func. display, courtesy light, and that had no effect on the clock or the courtesy light when I removed it. I tested F18 (10A) Number plate light, lighter illumination, clock, multifunction display, interior illum., and also F22 (10A) Glove box light, map reading light, courtesy light, clock or multi/func. display, instrument panel, on-board navigation system, rear electric windows (which I don't have), rain sensor - and one of them turned the clock off when I removed it, but I can't remember which.
And most importantly, I tested F24 (15A) Radio, and that was fine on the ohmeter, 0.09 again, like all the others.
And there doesn't appear to be a glovebox light anywhere, so heaven knows what I plugged those two connectors into. Should I take them out again? I'm not even sure if the white one went into a connector properly.
I just shoved the small fan back under the left hand side of the console plastic in front of the ashtray, as for the life of me I couldn't work out where it went. It can't be anything to do with the two vents, one on either side of the gear lever, because when you push the central console back together with the front, upright part of the console, the vents join together leaving no room for the cable of the fan, so it's obviously never been inside there.

I think the solution lies in the voltage readings I got from the lower connector to the car stereo:
1 xxxxx 2 Grey 5 White 7 Red
2 Brown 4 Purple 6 xxxxx 8 Green/yellow
With ignition OFF:
1:xxx 3: 11.5v 5: 0v 7: 0v
2: 11.5v 4: 0v 6xxx 8: Earth
With ignition ON:
1:xxx 3: 0.9v 5: 0v 7: 12.3v
2: 4.5v 4: 11.6v 6xxx 8: Earth
This is the sort of connector my car stereo has:
Connector 4 is 0v with the ignition off, but should be around 12v. The fact that it then goes to 11.6v when the ignition is turned on, makes me think that it's wired incorrectly somewhere else in the car.

Hi Cornholio, does your odometer display work?
Mine is blank, and also the picture of the car (and everything else) on the climate control thingy is also not lit up, so I can't see it all at night. I am pretty sure the previous owner or a garage has wired something wrong when doing a repair.
