Hey guys, I've just signed up because I've wondered this for a while now.
Basically when I bought my 206 (55 reg 1.4 Verve), the garage only supplied a basic key, not a transponder, so I have to stick the key in the door to lock it.
When I lock the car, a little red LED between the hazard & interior lock button starts steadily blinking.
Does this mean the 206 I have has a fitted alarm? If not, what exactly is the purpose of it - is it just a "dummy" LED?
I've read in some places you need to plip the car with a transponder key to activate the alarm, but since I don't have one, I have no way of telling.

Does your car have separate lock and hazard buttons, and sensors on the A pillars? Also if it's alarmed you'll have a button near the handbrake which looks like a wifi signal. That will turn he alarm off. You could also try sitting in the car after you've locked it.
All 206 have immobiliser.

Yeah my hazard and lock buttons are separate, but I see no sensors anywhere in the interior. There's no button near the handbrake. I have sat in the car while it's locked before, but it didn't set an alarm off.
I have managed to set the radio alarm off before by unlocking the car and simply sitting in the driver's seat, but that was just one of those weird 206 electrical glitches that happened once and never again...
I'm guessing the LED just means the immobiliser's activated then. Cheers

The Clarion radios start beeping if they detect a different VIN, but mine has erroneously done it once or twice before along with some false dash warning lights. Starting the engine cleared it.

Sounds like your 206 doesn't have an alarm then.
All UK spec 206's have a Thatcham cat 2 transponder immobiliser as standard.
The transponder is inside the key, it is NOTHING to do with remote locking.
