Just bought a 206 that has 'Auto' lights.
Even in the day the lights are on.
How do I sort this problem rather than just disabling/turning the function off.

I have turned the function off for now but would like to fix it.
How dark does it need to be before they come on as it was overcast when I drove it home but not enough for other cars to have their lights on.

Ignore what other car drivers do with their lights, most do not use fog lights when its foggy, i travel to manchester a lot, and my lights are always on (overcast).
Find a supermarket with underground parking and the like, see if they go on and off, when going in and out.

Just turn them off completely. It's annoying when you're sat at the end of a motorway slip road waiting to join the roundabout and the car coming under the bridge flashes their lights at you. You pull out only to realise that they weren't flashing their lights, but the auto headlights had activated because they were in a dark area.
It takes no effort at all to turn the switch that controls the headlights. Lighting up times are half an hour after sunset to half an hour before sunrise, the Highway Code states that headlamps should be used when visibility is less than 100 meters, but for the last 100 or so years people have managed to turn the headlamps on and off themselves, and the question should be asked, if someone doesn't know when their headlamps should be on, then should they actually be on the road.
OP, do your auto wipers work OK? It might just be a case of replacing the sensor on the windscreen or it is possible that you are running the early BSI software which is full of glitches. A visit to the dealer to get a BSI update might be in order.

Why do you think the EU has forced new cars to have daytime running lights
Why do you think the EU killed of the excellent dim - dip lighting system the UK used to have?
As for the auto headlamps, the sensor can be recalibrated to the screen.
The sensor on my 206 was replaced under the Peugeot 3 year warranty as the auto lights decided they needed to come on in bright sunlight

Being an HGV driver, drove a new HGV vehicle last month that was fitted with daytime running lights.
Has this come into force this year then for all new vehicles, cars included.
