Hello everyone.

My 2003 206 gti has developed a squeal.

its got 71,000 on the clock had a timing belt kit fitted on Monday drove 200 miles on Wednesday on problems used it Friday and Saturday. Suddenly Saturday afternoon. this squeal started. at first all he time then only when clutch pedal is pressed.

Any suggestions.

I have a 200 mile journey before I get home to get my mechanic to look at it.

If it's constant when the clutch pedal is pressed, it could be the bearing eating it's way through the pressure plate fingers

Mine was a git to get out and back in took 5 hours or so. If paying think it would have been in the region of 400 but work for the garage so cost nothing. If not bothered about paper work and know a chap it's worth seeing if you can get it done as a side job. Then you probably only talking around 230 ish. The clutch from halfords was 110 ish and a guy from the garage quoted me 120 to fit.

Clutch kit is a lot cheaper on here for Valeo (need to put in your reg)

www.carparts4less.co.uk/clutch-kit

Around £88.99 plus you can use the 'CP10Less' code to knock £10 off.

I'd imagine then you might be able to sneak it all in for less than £200 if you find a cheap enough garage

Thanks everyone. I am on holiday in Lincolnshire, rang my guy in Essex he quoted £340 all in, then I have the 3 hour drive each way plus the fuel cost. Rang round locally quoted between £380-£400, if they could fit me in. Chatting to the guy next door ex mechanic who said he would supply and fit for £250. More than happy with that.
