Hey guys and gals, I'm in need of your assistance..

For the past month or so, I've been having issues with my pug (XSI 110).
After driving for about 30-40 minutes, the engine will suddenly begin to judder when accelerating and when launching. it'll basically feel as if it's not running on all cylinders.
I've decided to test the issue before I post inaccurate info, so I went for a drive, shorter this time, but pushed the engine quite hard, accelerating uphill, 4500ish rpm on 4th gear for about 30-40 seconds, and then stopped at a traffic light, when it turned green the engine started to hesitate, sounding like a tractor, AND the orange check engine light began flashing, I gave it a nice rev and it went back to normal up until the next traffic light, then the whole thing again, but even revving didn't help, felt like I was running on 3 cylinders, and I drove like that for the next 5 or so minutes. Then I decided to pull over, turned the engine off, waited 5 seconds, turned it back on again, and all seems just fine again.
I should mention that lately, basically the same time these issues began happening, the engine doesn't sound as it used to, it sounds allot more "diesely", regardless of the issue above happening or not. I should mention that cooling liquid and oil levels are fine, and the oil is very clean.
On a daily basis I don't get these issues as my drive to work and back is about 20 minutes and there are no hills so the engine is not under heavy load and runs just fine (aside from the more "diesely" sound it gives..)
Also, when I got back home today after this whole fiasco, I noticed i get some slight backfires when revving on idle. don't know if this is significant but thought I should mention.

*I already purchased 4 bosh spark plugs and a new coil pack from ebay but haven't received the coil pack yet so didn't fit them yet. from my slight research I tend to believe the issues I'm experiencing are related to spark plugs\coil pack, as the coil pack heats up it starts acting up. but I may have the wrong idea, and that's why I need you guys..

Thanks allot Smile

Well from what you said, this can usually be caused by 2 things:

1-Coil Pack.
2-Injectors.

When you take your spark plugs off,do a compression test,so you can see the true condition of your engine, just to be sure,if all the 4 cylinders readings where good, then move to the next option, which is injectors, you can take them off,and start the car,and check the operation of the injectors,if all seems good, then you are left with the coil pack, which is common fault in the NFU engines.

and the easiest way is to check it with P2000 and see what fault codes you got, since the EML light flashing.

If you need any help, let me know.

Thanks allot for the quick response, I'll be sure to get these tests done as soon as I get my coil pack in the mail.

Good to hear from you Smile

Replaced coil pack and spark plugs today, I'll test the engine under load in the next few days and report in.

Update:
Well, after replacing the coil pack and the spark plugs, all of the issues have disappeared (aside from the engine sound, other thread), engine now never missfires, runs just fine, also after a long and hard drive.
