I was looking to spend about £2k on a runabout after being made redundant, but came across a 53 reg red 1.4 estate in the Trader for £995 and decided it had to be worth a look. 38k genuine miles, fsh and immaculate and unmarked inside and out. I drove it away. There are always nagging doubts about buying an older car, but I'd take this one anywhere, it's that good. Sailed through its MOT last month after putting on 2 Uniroyal Rainexperts on the front and front and rear tracking done for £120 at Click on Tyres in Shipley (highly recommended).
The big test came last weekend when we went to a family wedding in Dorset. Me, the wife, my son, his wife and an 18 month old baby, with luggage squeezed in and, after pumping the tyres up to the colossal 44psi recommended for a loaded car, off we went. On a 650 mile round trip the car never missed a beat, sailed down the motorways at an indicated 75 and returned 45mpg. No complaints about being uncomfortable although, to be fair, we did take plenty breaks because of the baby.
Although I have now found a job, I have no intention of replacing the car for a while.
I think I've got a good 'un.
Would you agree?

I would agree, i'm on my 2nd 206, my previous I had for 4 years driving it back from Dover to Plymouth when I bought it, even my current 206 it's done 9k without fault and wouldn't dream of selling it

Had my TU3 206 9 & half years now, it owes me nothing, is cheap to run & easy to fix so I see no reason to get rid of it yet.
It had a lot of work done under the 3 year Peugeot manufactures warranty ( I just repeatedly chucked it back at the main dealer ) but since then hardly anything other then normal service or wear & tear parts.
im currently looking out for another 206 to replace the GF's old Fiesta that im sick of having welded each MOT

Totally agree, a decent car that puts a lot of the french stereotypes to rest. Although I've spent a fair bit of cash in the way of fixing a few mechanical issues, mainly down to the previous owners lack of f***s given for the car, it's still a great car to drive on a daily basis and still a decent comfortable place to be on a long drive. Can honestly see this car being something I own for a long time even when a new car is bought to replace this as the daily driver.

I get the sneeky suspension that's tires included in that price.. I hope anyway.
