So do I?

All HDIs are Diesel, that's what the 'D' Stands for!

Its confusing in the detail though as it says 1.4 HDI Eco 70 petrol lol.

Anyway, bit of a pic overload here but this should help....

Here's my sad old rusty pointy down exhaust:

Whipped off

These are just some of the rusted through parts. The 'Metallic' was used to literally squeeze it through the MOT, although in fairness it was still shocking around the central clamp too.

New link pipe from Cats2u (around £36 posted, arrived literally the next day)

New silencer arrived from CarParts4Less a bit later than I wanted (this morn) and is a Klarius, same brand as was removed and is practically the same box with just a different tail pipe

New exhaust fitted.

Much better looks than a standard pipe for not a lot of money at all.

I don't think mine was manufactured 'perfectly' as there's a bit of shoddyness in terms of the overlap of the tail pipe to the chrome outer, but if I really worry about it then it's easily solved with a dremel.

It's not likely that any different exhaust would add any performance gains anyway, so for now it's a nice OE style touch to improve the looks a little.

Hope that helps some people. I should have got new clamps, forgot that, but total cost of the whole exhaust delivered was less than £80.

Have you still got a note of the carpart4less part number you ordered to get that rear box? Mine has just dropped off and if I'm going to replace it may add the one with a bit of "bling" Smile

Was it 705730081??

Down to just the 1.4 HDi. Cayman Green 2.0i CC sold.

That's not really a bad price, here's my back box, think I paid 100 from a local car shop, was a few years ago. Should really get a full pipe as mine will probably fall off soon. As for a de-cat I just took a hammer and crowbar to its inners. It was actually loose and moving around before I even touched it witch is a very common problem with these.

bump!

Sorry need to order one in next two days so part number would be great help.

And for a hdi owners, don't worry if the back box comes off ... it doesn't silence any thing. With a straight through exhaust which it what I effectively have there is no increase in noise!!! At all ...

The Bosal unit is the one with the chrome tailpipe according to ECP/CarParts4Less.

Order one by make/model and set age to 2005 or newer and it will appear.

Obviously costs more ... Rolling Eyes

Apologies for late reply.

The Chrome Tailpipe part is 705736041 from CarParts4Less.

It's on for less than £35 at the mo, but you can get discount off it using the codes

Thanks. Sorted in the end. Used Klarius and Bosal sites to trace the correct numbers.

Fitted it Saturday morning.

Difficult to align to centre of exhaust cut-out ... think the outer hanger needs to be longer and firmer. Tried the Superpro poly ones I bought for the CC but they are far too short. The two new rubber ones I bought Saturday were also short (one snapped!). So I've refitted one of the original hangers and packed out the centre hole with bits cut off the broken one to hold it further apart! Going to look at the Powerflex universal hangers for one with a larger hole spacing at some time.

PS Hint for all ... order something from carparts4less and put it in the basket. Then delete it ... and wait about an hour .. they will probably send you a discount code! Smile

Probably depends on what make the center section is. I had no issues really with mine. I hung it by the outer (nearer the wheel) rubber first, clamped loosely, attached the other rubber and then you just need to rotate the box and hold it in the desired position whilst tightening the clamp.

Because of the hanger design, it allows you a bit of adjustment I found.

Codes are on the main site:

CP5LESS - £5 off £50
CP10LESS - £10 off £75
CP15LESS - £15 off £100

I think SAVEME75 used to work for 7.5% off too.
