my 1.4 petrol as failed on the emissions but only on idle.
I have now changed the plugs.air filter.oil and filter anything else I can do?
oh yes 6 months ago had a new cat and exhaust as well

carbon monoxide content after 2nd idle excessive
hydrocarbon content after 2nd fast idle excessive
and
exhaust emissions lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside limits

Check for exhaust leaks. Scrunch up a rag and hold it over the end of the exhaust. While doing that get a mate to check under the car and under the bonnet listening carefully for leaks or damp (water) at a joint.
As well as being caused by a small exhaust leak it could be cheap cat not working correctly. It could also be lambda sensor beginning to fail or injectors not working correctly.

Stick some redex in it and take it for a good run before re-testing it.

Just looked again at this post. With both high HC and CO I suspect even more strongly exhaust leak causing the car to run rich (inject excess fuel.)
Start with checking exhaust for leaks and report back.

exhaust wasn't leakin.but the new[cheap]cat had failed a new cat and she passed.
