My head just can't take it any more, I have trawled the entire internet looking for the correct tyre size for the 15" alloys on my 1999 206 GTI (137).

Using the faq here I found these,

- 14" wheel - 185/60/14 or 175/65/14
- 15" wheel - 195/50/15
- 16" wheel - 195/45/16 or 205/45/16
- 17" wheel - 205/40/17
- 18" wheel - 215/35/18
- 19" wheel - 215/35/19

So my tyres would be the second in the list, however these figures conflict with EVERY other website I have found and none match

185/55 R15V from here - 206gti.net/faq/#9
195/50 R16 from here - www.wheel-size.com/

Please for the love of all things good can someone put me out of my misery and let me know what size tyre was fitted as standard or the recommended OD for the car. At the moment I have 195/45/15's on.

Cheers the vin# is vf32crfre40311060.

I would have thought that the outer diameter of all the wheels would be very close otherwise each car would have to have a different calibrated speedo and odometer?

Your 185/55/15 's have an OD of 585mm while the 195/50/15's have an od of 576 so are pretty close as opposed to the 195/45's I have on at the moment.

There is an option in the BSI to change wheel/tyre size and this adjust the speedo accordingly.

Aaah that makes sense although it's 1999 so no BSI?

Anyways, the main reason was to check the % difference between my current tyres and the originally fitted ones. if I do change I will probably go with uttz 195/50/15's.

Car goes in for axle and exhaust replacement next week so wont be any time soon though lol

You still have a BSI, just not as complicated as it doesn't have the VAN system
